Burrell Field & Pacific Sports Complex

San Leandro Unified School District

The San Leandro community successfully passed a $50.1 million school facilities bond in 2010. This set in motion the renovation of Burrell Field and the Pacific Sports Complex. Originally built in 1963 as part of Pacific High School, Burrell Field served as the Vikings home field for 20 years and has been the home field of the San Leandro High School Pirates for three decades. Aedis was entrusted with the revitalization of this field and in May 2012, a groundbreaking ceremony brought the community together to celebrate a half century of tradition while welcoming an era of newness to the historic field.

“I’ve been working with them since 2006 and they’ve always met the challenge. When we had a new bond measure pass in December 2010, the District made decision to give Aedis their most politically sensitive project – the sports complex. It’s a complicated project because of the entities involved – the City of San Leandro and the San Leandro Sports Foundation. But Aedis is navigating those waters efficiently and without stepping on anyone’s toes, which is hard to do.”

– Kurt Weidmann, Construction Manager for San Leandro Unified School District
