San Jose City College Ribbon Cutting

Last week, we were honored to celebrate alongside San Jose City College and JGM for the ribbon cutting and grand opening of the new Maintenance, Operations and Emergency Operations Building. The speakers highlighted the significance of this building, pointing out that the M&O Department finally has a centralized home on the campus, increasing their ability to serve the SJCC community. Our very own Joe Vela, AIA recalled in his speech how the Aedis design team successfully accommodated a major programmatic change mid-design in combining the Emergency Ops Center and the M&O Department into one multi-purpose building. The final outcome is a functional and elegant building that will leave a PositiveLastingImpact on San Jose City College.

Lynhaven Elementary School New Multi-Use Building

At the end of 2023, the Campbell Union School District occupied its new Multi-Use and Administration Building at Lynhaven Elementary School. Over the last decade, the District has been periodically replacing older obsolete multi-use buildings with new and larger Aedis-designed state-of-the-art facilities. Lynhaven is number four. Although each project is uniquely adapted to the campus on which it’s built, all are based on a prototype first constructed at Blackford Elementary School, which in its time, propelled the industry forward as part of a District-wide “Net Zero Energy/Emission” modernization goal. Today, the design still represents forward-thinking all-electric and solar-powered school design and looks fantastic.

Eventually, the old Multi-Use buildings at seven of the District’s campuses will be replaced. Forest Hill Elementary School’s MU will break ground this summer!

Aedis has been honored to partner with the District in a united effort to maximize the impact of its bond funding and leave a #PositiveLastingImpact on the entire CUSD community.

70 Years of Aedis

Aedis Architects is celebrating our 70th birthday! We tip our hats to our founders, Kal Porter, Don Jensen, and Allan Walter who, in the mid-fifties, hung out their shingles as architects in San Jose, California–kicking off long careers that saw the founding and merging of several firms in the western states, including what would evolve into Aedis Architects. Over the seven decades, we have been proud to serve California’s K-14 schools, local governments, and community organizations with sustainable, innovative, community-driven design. We are grateful to our clients, staff, and design collaborators–those who believe in us, are committed to our mission, and are aligned with our goals. Together, we will continue to make a PositiveLastingImpact on generations of young people and in the communities we serve. Cheers to the bright future ahead!
