Cabrillo Unified School District
The project modernizes an existing school site with buildings dating from 1938. The plans included site improvements such as on-site parking and drop off (previously unaccommodated), outdoor teaching and performance areas, improved student flow, landscaping and security.
The project includes a state-of-the-art, two-story, 18-classroom building with a new library/media center integrating many sustainable design features. Provisions for installation of a future rooftop solar array. The new buildings include the latest A/V education technology and distance learning systems, and house the campus’ art and music programs.
Renovations of the existing buildings, including two on the local Historic Register, provide for computer labs, refurbished PE locker rooms, gymnasium facilities and expanded administration areas. The renovations seek to utilize existing square footage more efficiently and to bring the older facilities into greater conformance with seismic and sustainability standards.
