Silver Creek High School

East Side Union High School District

This multi-use building replaces a small theater that has existed in the middle of the campus, overlooking the main quad since the school’s opening. The old theater was cramped, lacked proper ADA access and major drainage and leakage problems. The replacement building is a rare prototype for high school performing arts facilities: it accommodates musical and dramatic performances without fixed seating, making it a truly multi-purpose space. With the 300-seat telescopic seating pulled out, it functions like a traditional theater. With the seating folded, it accommodates a variety of uses in high demand at the campus: testing, food service, banquet, dance, physical education, assembly, color guard practices. The exterior envelope continues the architectural theme established by the earlier new two-story classroom building to upgrade the campus visually throughout.
